چکیده
I. An electrophoretic method for the rapid separation of the phosphate esters of inositol is presented. 2. It is used, together with ion-exchange chromatography, to establish the presence of inositol diand triphosphates in hydrolysates of trichloroacetic acid residues of rat brain, liver, heart, kidney, and lung. 3. With the aid of a *lP marker, inositol diand triphosphates were also found in hydrolysates of rat erythrocyte stroma. 4. Glycerol diphosphate was found in hydrolysates of rat liver. 5. Inositol tetraphosphate was not found in the hydrolysatesof any of the tissues studied. 6. Residues remaining after extraction of rat brain by established lipid extraction procedures retained substantial amounts of bound inositol diand triphosphates.

Inositol Phosphates a N D Phytic Acid as Inhibitors of Biological Calcification
1. Partial hydrolysates of phytic acid, containing mixtures of different polyphosphate esters of inositol, have been shown to be potent inhibitors of the calcification in vitro of ricketic rat cartilage and rat aorta; phytate itself was inert. 2. Phytic acid, as well as its hydrolysates, when injected parenterally, prevented aortic calcification in rats with vitamin D intoxication. 3. The rat a...
متن کاملDifferent pathways of inositol phosphate metabolism in intact neonatal rat hearts and isolated cardiomyocytes.
In most tissues stimulation of the phosphatidylinositol turnover pathway causes release of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate [Ins(1,4,5)P3], which is subsequently metabolized to a wide range of inositol phosphate isomers deriving from both phosphorylation and dephosphorylation reactions. However, addition of noradrenaline to isolated intact neonatal-rat hearts generated only those inositol phosphate...
متن کاملA review on the role of inositol in aquaculture
Inositol is usually classified as an essential vitamin for most animals, and is recognised as a part of the B-complex vitamins. Among all other inositol isomer forms, myo-inositol possesses biological activity. It is found in the brain, skeletal, heart, and main reproductive tissues and exists as a structural component of phosphatidylinositol in biological cell membranes. Myo-inositol, also act...
متن کاملA miniaturized column chromatography method for measuring receptor-mediated inositol phosphate accumulation.
Inositol phosphates (IPs), such as 1,4,5-inositol-trisphosphate (IP(3)), comprise a ubiquitous intracellular signaling cascade initiated in response to G protein-coupled receptor-mediated activation of phospholipase C. Classical methods for measuring intracellular accumulation of these molecules include time-consuming high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separation or large-volume, gra...
متن کاملThe separation of myo-inositol phosphates by ion-pair chromatography.
The separation of myo-inositol phosphates by ion pair, reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography has been investigated. The retention of the inositol phosphates is dependent on both the polarity of the hetaeron utilized and on the pH of the solvent. A method is presented which permits the isocratic separation of multiple forms of inositol phosphates including isomers of myo-inositol ...
